North routs South in Optimist All-Star game
Marion Center’s Garrett Glasser and Apollo-Ridge’s Lucas Burrell scored 21 points apiece to lead the North All-Stars to a 110-88 win over the South at the Indiana Optimist Club boys’ all-star game Saturday afternoon at Indiana High School.
Glasser and Burrell shared team MVP honors for the south, which also received double-digit efforts from Marion Center’s Brody Thompson (15 points), United’s Dave Patterson (13), Homer-Center’s Nate Wilden (10) and Marion Center’s Tyler Keith (10).
Ligonier Valley’s Zack Yeskey led all scorers with 27 points, and was named co-MVP for the South, along with Blairsville’s Eric Helm, who scored 21 points. Northern Cambria’s Derek Bearer chipped in 12.
In the girls’ all-star game, Indiana’s Audrey Stapleton earned South MVP honors by scoring 16 points in a 67-59 win over the North.
United’s Wendi Walsh added 14 points, and Homer-Center’s Maggie McLoughlin scored 11.
Blairsville’s MacKenzie Livingston, who scored 13 points, was named MVP for the North. Apollo-Ridge’s Sarah Bonelli added 12 points, and Penns Manor’s Krista Gillo (11) and Emma Myers (10) also reached double figures.
