SENIOR LEGION ROUNDUP: Renegades roll behind another gem from Satler

by The Indiana Gazette on July 02, 2014 10:30 AM

Young Township ace Ian Satler fired his third straight complete game, and the Renegades amassed 10 hits to blank Indiana Legion, 10-0, in an Indiana County Senior Legion baseball game Tuesday.

“We only had 11 guys as usual, but we hustled and we got some help from the younger ones on the roster,” Young Township coach Barry Thomas said.

Satler, who fired a five-hitter, struck out 12 and walked four. He earned his second straight complete-game win. In his last three starts, Satler has fanned a combined 36 and walked 10 while giving up only 12 hits and two runs.

“He’s doing really well,” Thomas said of Satler, who also singled and drove in two runs. “His ERA (earned run average) is under 1.00 right now. His command of the strike zone, his movement and his ability to mix his pitches has made it really tough on hitters.”

Mike Percic went 3-for-3 with a double, a triple, three RBIs and two runs scored for the Renegades. Mitch Johnston singled, doubled and scored three runs, and Brady Neal singled twice and drove in three runs.

Chase Kromer went 2-for-3 to lead the Ponies.

Losing pitcher Bobby Bell struck out five and walked three in three innings.

Young Township (13-4) travels to Indiana Legion tonight.
