CLYMER — Visiting Kovacik Insurance scored six runs in the second inning, surrendered just three hits and ran its record to 8-0 by blanking winless Clymer Legion, 8-0, in an Indiana County Youth Legion baseball game Thursday.

The Giants broke open a scoreless game and used two hits, three errors and three walks to mount a six-run rally in the top of the second.

“We had bases-loaded situations in two innings and we couldn’t score,” Clymer Legion assistant coach Bill Lightner said. “We also had guys on second and third a few times and we couldn’t score. Things just didn’t go our way.”

Dakota Sunday paced the Giants with three singles. Ryan Shirley smacked two singles.

Rick Shirley struck out four, walked five and allowed two hits in four innings to earn the win.

Clymer Legion (0-9) plays host to Shoemaker Funeral Home on Wednesday. Kovacik Insurance plays host to S.W. Jack on Monday.
