NCAA: Oregon State hires new coach

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) — Montana coach Wayne Tinkle was hired as Oregon State’s new women’s basketball coach.

Tinkle took the Grizzlies to the NCAA tournament three times in his eight-year tenure with the team. Montana finished below .500 only once during that span.

The 48-year-old replaces Craig Robinson, brother-in-law of President Barack Obama, after he was fired earlier this month following six seasons with the Beavers in which he failed to make the NCAA tournament.
