RED WINGS 5, DUCKS 1: Justin Abdelkader had his first NHL hat trick, Pavel Datsyuk had a goal and two assists, and Detroit ended Anaheim’s club-record 13-game home winning streak.

Detroit began a four-game road trip with the first of back-to-back games against Pacific Division leaders, who beat the Red Wings 5-2 in their only other meeting on Feb. 15 at Joe Louis Arena.

The teams meet again on Sunday at Honda Center.

Jimmy Howard allowed fewer than three goals for the eighth time in his past nine starts and had 33 saves.

Teemu Selanne scored for the Ducks.

CAPITALS 6, JETS 1: Alex Ovechkin scored two goals and Braden Holtby made 30 saves and Washington beat Winnipeg.

Brooks Laich, Troy Brouwer, Jay Beagle and Mike Green also scored for the Capitals and Mike Ribeiro had two assists as Washington picked up a much-needed four points in two nights thanks to the Jets. Dustin Byfuglien scored Winnipeg’s goal in the third.

BLUE JACKETS 5, FLAMES 1: Nick Foligno scored twice in a club-record 51 seconds and Columbus scored three goals in a 1:15 span of the second period to beat Calgary, extending its franchise-record points streak to 12 games.

Artem Anisimov, Colton Gillies and Jared Boll also had goals and Sergei Bobrovsky continued his strong play with 24 saves as the Blue Jackets, last in the NHL on Feb. 24, ran their record to 8-0-4 in their hot streak.

R.J. Umberger and Derek MacKenzie each had two assists.

The two goals by Foligno and one by Anisimov in 75 seconds also were the fastest three goals by the Blue Jackets.
