Michael J. Vehovic, 52, of Penn Run, died Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.
A son of Joseph L. and Dorathy (Winters) Vehovic, he was born Jan. 13, 1959, in Altoona.
Mike was a member of the Church of the Resurrection, Heilwood site. He was a network administrator at the Indiana County Technology Center. He loved his job and all the people he worked with; the students always referred to him as "Mr. V." He was also a Pennsylvania Motorcycle Safety instructor, which he also very much enjoyed.
He was a member of Abate of Indiana County, the Goldwing Riders Association and the NRA. He was also treasurer of the Virago Owners Club.
Mike loved being with his family and friends. His favorite hobby was riding his motorcycle with his best friends Dave Stewart and Ed Woodle. He also enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Karen (Brown) Vehovic, of Penn Run, to whom he would have been married 33 years on June 10, 2011; his three children: Melissa Matt and husband Damon, of New Kensington; Shawn Vehovic and wife Jenalee, of Penn Run; and Katrina Arduini and husband Anthony, of Rural Valley; five grandchildren: Olivia, Andrew, Penny, Emilena and Ava; a brother, Robert Vehovic and wife Stacey, of Penn Run; mother- and father-in-law, Mary and Clair Brown, and brother-in-law, Ken and wife Brenda Brown, all of Penn Run; a sister-in-law, Linda Bell, of Strongstown; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Vehovic, on Nov. 18, 1994, and Dorathy Winters, April 1, 2011. Family and friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Harry J. Bence Funeral Home in Clymer. His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Church (Church of the Resurrection) in Camerons Bottom with the Rev. Lawrence Manchas as celebrant. Interment will be private.
