Letter to the Editor: Don't taxpayers already pay enough?

on February 12, 2014 10:29 AM

Why should the taxpayers of Pennsylvania pay the expense of collecting public sector union dues and their PAC money?

Recently there have been letters to the editor demonizing the proposed legislation that would end this process. The legislation discussed concerns House Bill 1507 and Senate Bill 1034.

These bills have nothing to do with private sector unions whatsoever. They simply state that public sector unions will be required to collect for themselves the dues and PAC money from their members who they represent. The bills, however, exempt first responders.

Please take the time to check this out for yourself by reading the bills at www.legis.state.pa.us. As you will see, there is nothing in this legislation that deals with any private sector unions, and only requires public sector unions to bear the expense of collecting their own dues and PAC money, not the taxpayer.
