Letter to the Editor: Parents key in addiction
Concerning your April 20 article: “A Sobering Story: Experts say genetics play key role in addictions.”
Many law enforcement organizations and drug awareness groups will tell you that many young people begin using drugs by using their parents’ prescription drugs.
Parents do not know the extent of peer pressure in K-to-12 schools to try drugs is great. Once a child tries drugs, many are hooked.
Genetics plays a role in drug addiction.
Parents not discussing drug awareness with their children and following up with their children’s activities plays an important role as well.
