Weekly library programs scheduled
The Indiana Free Library, 845 Philadelphia St., offers the following free programs for the week of Sept. 1. The library is closed on Monday for Labor Day:
• Pins and Patches Quilting Group, 1 p.m.: For those who love to quilt or have always wanted to learn. Beginners and experienced quilters welcome. For more information contact Kim at the library. Refreshments provided. (Community Room)
• Thursdays 101, 2 p.m.: “Microsoft Word 2010 for Beginners.” When we think of fall we think of students going back to school to learn. Well, just because you are no longer school-aged doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be learning. Our weekly technology class for beginners, Thursdays 101, gives you the chance to boost your brain power and learn something new.
This day will be the basics of Microsoft Word 2010. Classes are from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Community Room on the second floor of the library. Spaces are limited, so you must sign up at the circulation desk to reserve a spot. Call (724) 465-8841.
• Meet the Author, 11 to 11:45 a.m.: Elizabeth Redhead Kriston, a resident of Indiana, will be here to read her new book, “Pants on Ants.” Kriston will also have copies of her book for sale that she will autograph at $10 each, with $1 from each purchase donated to the IFL’s Children’s Department. For elementary-school age children. (Children’s department)
The library has a full slate of programs and activities for all ages this fall beginning next week. Learn how to search your family’s history with our new genealogy class, explore the great books of literature with Dan Shively, take a beginning computer class or learn to knit.
Meet a local author, join a book club, celebrate “Star Wars” reading day, and more. Check out the events page on our website: www. indianafreelibrary.com or call the library to find out how you can get plugged in.
