Two men were injured Thursday afternoon in a traffic accident on Route 219 in Bell Township, Clearfield County.

According to state police in Punxsutawney, the accident occurred around 12:50 p.m. as Jeffrey A. Cox, 44, of Johnstown, was traveling south in a commercial box truck. Police said that a vehicle ahead of Cox stopped suddenly to make a right turn into the Mahaffey Camp & Conference Center. Cox, unable to stop in time, swerved partially into the opposing lane, where his truck was struck by an oncoming coal truck, police said.

The coal truck, driven by Terry W. Crissman, 58, of DuBois, overturned, spilling a load of coal, and caught fire.

Cox was flown to UPMC Altoona, and Crissman was taken by ambulance to DuBois Regional Medical Center.

Police said both men suffered moderate injuries.
