WHITE TOWNSHIP

State police at Indiana said they are withholding the identities of two men involved in a one-vehicle crash at 4:45 a.m. Thursday on Route 422 because the case has become an active criminal investigation.

Police said the 22-year-old male driver, of Indiana, fell asleep as he and an 18-year-old male passenger, also from Indiana, were traveling west on Route 422. Their car ran off the highway and hit guide rails on both sides of the highway.

The two men fled the scene, according to police, and abandoned the car along Route 119 north of Route 422 when it became disabled.
