ACCIDENT

BURNSIDE TOWNSHIP, CLEARFIELD COUNTY 

State police reported a car driven by Murphy N. Pearce, 43, of Burnside, crashed into an embankment on Route 219 about 2,000 feet south of Keener Road around 5:50 p.m. Aug. 26 when its motor broke apart.

The 2000 Chevy Cavalier overturned and came to a rest in an upright position. The driver initially fled the scene, state police at Punxsutawney reported. The Mahaffey fire department responded to the scene.

Pearce, according to the police, suffered moderate injuries. He was taken to Miners Hospital for treatment, police said.
