A Johnstown man was injured in a traffic accident that forced the closure of Route 422 in Plumcreek Township, Armstrong County, on Sunday afternoon.

According to state police in Kittanning, the accident occurred shortly after 1 p.m. as Samuel David Faunce, 37, was traveling east near Barks Hill Road. Police said Faunce’s vehicle crossed the centerline and drifted into the path of an oncoming tractor-trailer rig driven by John F. Jaikes, 46, of Portage, Cambria County.

Faunce was flown to UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh for treatment. No information was available on his condition this morning.

Police did not say whether Jaikes was injured.
