Two misdemeanors and a harassment charge brought against a former Indiana Borough police officer at the end of September were voluntarily dropped Thursday by his wife.

Michael A. Rhoades, 42, faced one count each of simple assault and making terroristic threats and one count of summary harassment.

All charges against Rhoades were withdrawn at the courtroom of Magisterial District Judge Guy B. Haberl, of Indiana.

The charges stemmed from a series of heated arguments between Rhoades and his wife that took place over the telephone, via text message and in person Sept. 29 and 30, according to police.

At the time of the incidents, police said that it was not the first time domestic problems had brought them to the Rhoades’ residence. After he was arrested, Rhoades had been placed in the Indiana County Jail in lieu of a $50,000 cash bond. The bail type was later changed to an unsecured bond, according to online court documents.

Rhoades served as a police officer in the borough for 9 1/2 years. He resigned from the position in April.
