An Indiana man died early today from injuries he suffered in a traffic crash about 11:15 a.m. Wednesday on Warren Road near the entrance to Indiana Mall.

State police reported Vernon Troup, 71, drove from McKnight Road onto Warren Road and into the path of a car driven by Virginia Holmes, of Indiana. Troup was ejected from his car.

Citizens’ Ambulance Service paramedics treated Troup at the scene and transported him to Indiana Regional Medical Center. He then was transferred to Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown, where he died about 1 a.m., according to a spokeswoman at the Cambria County coroner’s office.

Indiana volunteer firefighters helped to free Holmes, 88, from the wreckage of her car, then detoured traffic from a section of Warren Road while state police conducted their investigation.

Holmes was not injured, according to police.
