TORRANCE -- State police reported a man in his 20s was murdered early Saturday afternoon in the Stone Quarry Road area of Derry Township, but troopers released little other information about the case.

The victim has been identified, but police withheld his name pending notification of relatives, said Trooper Steve Limani of the Greensburg station.

Police were searching for a suspect, but Limani did not publicly identify that person. No one had been arrested before deadline.

Limani also said police were confident of the cause of the man's death, but that investigators also were withholding that information.

No one could be reached at the Westmoreland County Coroner's office.

Limani said investigators were certain the incident was an isolated case.

"It's not random," Limani said. "We're working on leads. The people in Torrance don't necessarily have to worry about some random person running around assaulting or hurting anyone in their neighborhood. I would say they could put that to rest.

"I just don't want people to have to be scared … They can go to bed at night and not have to think about anything … related to this that they would have to worry about."
