Fire chief lifts ban on burning
Indiana Fire Association Chief Charles Kelly today lifted the outdoor burning ban that had been in place in Indiana Borough and White Township since April 9 during the recent dry and breezy spring weather.
Kelly said area woods and fields are “greening up” and rain showers are forecast for Tuesday.
He thanked area residents for their patience and cooperation during the ban while the danger of wildfires was high, and he urged residents to still use common sense with any outdoor open fires. Anyone who starts a woods fire can be held responsible for the cost of extinguishing the blaze, he said.
