PITTSTON (AP) — A Pennsylvania man has been arrested after he allegedly tried to rob a Walmart store on Thanksgiving night.

Authorities say Michael J. Owens, 37, of Old Forge, is charged with attempted robbery, attempted theft and disorderly conduct, the Scranton Times-Tribune reported.

On Thursday at 9:35 p.m. Owens allegedly walked up to the customer service desk at the Pittston Walmart, slammed his hand on the counter and slid a note to an employee, demanding cash. Police say the employee refused and Owens left empty-handed. Pittston is just outside Scranton.

Owens is being held in the Luzerne County jail, unable to post $75,000 bond. No attorney is listed on court papers.
