SMITHTON (AP) — Police continued searching for a tractor-trailer driver who didn’t stop after striking and killing a passenger who exited a Jeep after a wrong-way crash on Interstate 70 in western Pennsylvania.

The Associated Press wasn’t identifying the 40-year-old Jeep driver, because he hadn’t been charged after he surrendered to police and acknowledged driving his Jeep westward in the eastbound lanes near the Smithton exit. The Jeep crashed into a minivan, injuring five people about 2:10 a.m. Monday.

A passenger in the Jeep, Siva Marie Stewart, 22, of Connellsville, was walking around after the crash when she was fatally struck by the tractor-trailer. State police in Greensburg were still searching for the trucker Tuesday.

The driver and four passengers in the minivan were from Lincolnwood, Ill. Police said they all were expected to recover from their injuries.
