Men jailed

Orlando Garcia, 28, of Farmington, N.M., fled from Indiana Borough police at 12:42 a.m. Saturday when officers discovered him driving an all-terrain vehicle on the 600 block of Locust Street, then was captured and lodged at Indiana County Jail, according to a news release.

Indiana Borough police reported Bryant Bolanos, a student at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, was held at Indiana County Jail after being found asleep on a sidewalk at 6:45 a.m. Monday along the 1100 block of Water Street near the Agway store.

Devin Kopet, 18, of New Fairfield, Conn., was held at the county jail when borough police found him intoxicated at 12:14 a.m. Sunday along Rice Avenue between School Street and South Avenue, according to a news release.

Spencer Fratzke, 25, of Indiana, was lodged at the county jail Saturday after he was found driving a vehicle that had been reported stolen, Indiana Borough police reported. According to a news release, Fratzke was spotted at Ninth and Philadelphia streets and fled on foot to White's Woods.

False alarm

Indiana Borough police reported somebody activated a fire alarm on the first floor entrance to Roof Top Apartments, 707 Philadelphia St., at 2:08 a.m. Monday. Investigators found no sign of a fire.

Center Township

Narcotics suspects

State police at Indiana reported Melissa Mocek, 33, of Black Lick, and Sheila Bruner, 20, of Blairsville, were held at Indiana County Jail to await court action on felony narcotics violations. Charges had been filed earlier and troopers arrested the women on warrants on Thursday and Friday in Black Lick, investigators reported. Each has been charged with possession with intent to deliver heroin, according to police.

Green Township

Suspect held

State police reported Joseph Gillo, of Penn Run, was lodged at Indiana County Jail early Sunday in connection with the theft of a truck from the driveway at Maynard Miller's residence in Commodore.

The truck was found abandoned at the Sheetz convenience store in Clymer and $40 was taken from a wallet Miller had left in the truck, according to troopers.

Investigators reported Gillo was identified on a surveillance video recording at the store.

Mischief reported

Thomas Long, of Commodore, reported that somebody slashed a tire of his truck on Friday or Saturday outside his residence along Musser Street, according to state police.

Rayne Township

Ground uncovered

Someone made off with about 240 square feet of ground cover vegetation from the front yard at Nancy Baker's residence along Rayne Church Road, state police at Indiana reported.

A 12-by-20-foot patch of myrtle, valued at $1,000, was removed from the yard between Aug. 19 and Saturday, according to a news release.

Canoe Township

Vehicle vandalized

Somebody damaged the left front fender of a 1996 Lincoln Town Car limousine owned by Alfred Piekielek, of Rossiter, between 11 p.m. Sunday and noon Monday while the vehicle was parked on Central Street, state police at Punxsutawney reported.

Troopers estimated the damage at $800.

Barr Township, Cambria County

Tithes pilfered

Someone stole an undetermined amount of cash and checks from the Sunday collection funds kept in the rectory following Mass at St. Nicholas Church in Nicktown, state police reported.

Troopers at Ebensburg said the gifts to the church went missing between 11:45 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. Sunday while an annual festival was under way on the church grounds at 1169 Alverda Road.

Anyone with information about the theft was asked to contact state police at (814) 471-6500.

Plumcreek Township, Armstrong County

Mischief probed

Leanna Greenawalt told state police that someone scratched her car between 5 and 5:45 p.m. Wednesday while it was parked at 1204 Park Drive.
