White Township

Theft

Someone stole a Cub Cadet tractor belonging to Debnars Pools and Spas from S&T Bank Arena between the close of the Indiana Armstrong Builders Association home show at 4:30 p.m. March 17 and 11 a.m. the next morning, state police reported. Troopers listed the loss at $1,600.

 

Shoplifting

Kadeem Meggett, of Indiana, was held at the Indiana County Jail after being arrested March 21 for stealing merchandise from Walmart at SouthTowne Plaza, according to state police at Indiana.

Meggett waived his right to a preliminary hearing Tuesday in Homer City District Court, and faces adjudication on charges of retail theft and defiant trespass. Online court records show that Meggett was released on unsecured bond following the hearing.

 

Conemaugh Township

Threats

A man from West Homestead, Allegheny County, told state police that a stranger threatened him with a gun at 8:47 a.m. Tuesday as he posted a real estate sale sign on the front yard of a property at 2513 Saltsburg Road.

The stranger drove up in a white, late 1990 or early 2000 model Ford F-150 pickup and confronted the man, first yelling obscenities then drawing a pistol and threatening to shoot him, according to troopers at Indiana.

Police withheld the name of the man who reported the incident.

The stranger was a white man of a stocky build, about 6 feet tall, with white and gray hair and close-cut beard, who appeared to be in his late 50s. He drove away toward Route 286, police reported.

 

Cherryhill Township

Assault

Clarence Empfield, 79, hit Viola Empfield, 75, at 4:45 p.m. Saturday while they argued in their home along Sportsman Road, state police at Indiana reported.

Troopers charged him with simple assault and harassment.

Clarence Empfield was held at the Indiana County Jail from Saturday until Monday, when he posted $10,000 bond and was released to await a preliminary hearing April 2 in Clymer District Court.

 

Marion Center

Theft

A 12-year-old girl is accused of stealing a duffel bag at 7:40 a.m. March 13 from a 17-year-old girl’s locker in Marion Center Area High School, state police reported Tuesday.

 

Pine Township

Vandalism

State police reported someone smashed a window of a car owned by Patrick Friedhof between 4 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Monday while it was parked on Penn Street in Alverda. The damage was estimated at $100.

Burrell Township

Mischief

Somebody smashed a mailbox and post on Carmella Snyder’s property along Schoolhouse Road between 11 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. Monday, according to state police. Troopers at Indiana listed the damage at $100.

 

Glen Campbell

Theft

Neal McKavic, of Glenwood Avenue, reported to state police that he charged the $100 purchase of a retail store gift card to his credit card, but that the gift card wasn’t delivered and his credit card was assessed several fees between March 14 and Thursday.

Troopers classified the incident as theft by deception and reported the investigation is continuing.

 

Indiana

Citations issued

Samuel Matter, 21, of Carlisle, Cumberland County, was cited by Indiana Borough police with public urination at 1:20 a.m. Feb. 23 at 660 Philadelphia St. Matter pleaded guilty March 1 and paid a fine and costs of $371.50.

Cierra McKee, 20, of Russell, Warren County, was cited by borough police with carrying false identification at 12:40 a.m. Feb. 24 at The Coney Island tavern, 642 Philadelphia St. Online court records show McKee has not responded to the citation.
