Fleeing an officer

State police in Indiana charged Alexandre Costa, 20, of Stoneham, Mass., with a felony count of fleeing an officer, three misdemeanor counts of recklessly endangering another person, resisting arrest and escape as well as a number of traffic offenses Saturday on Wayne Avenue.

Police said he fled after a traffic stop around 10:05 a.m. near the Quality Inn and was arrested on Route 22 in Derry Township. He was released Tuesday from the Indiana County jail on a $10,000 bail.

 

Theft

Cassie Reynolds, 21, of Blairsville, was charged with theft of leased property May 2, state police in Indiana reported. Police said she stopped making payments on a television and laptop she purchased through Rent-A-Center, and then moved.

 

INDIANA

Domestic assault

Indiana Borough police arrested Shawn Patrick Gearhart, 26, of Indiana, under the Domestic Violence Act around 2:53 a.m. Sunday at 238 Philadelphia St. Police said he faces charges of simple assault and harassment and was held in the Indiana County jail.

 

False ID

Indiana Borough police reported Brant Sower, 22, of Manchester, was arrested after urinating in a yard in the 400 block of South Seventh Street around 2:50 a.m. Saturday.

Police said he provided a false name. Once identified, he was lodged in the Indiana County jail on unrelated bench warrants.

 

Underage drinking

Caleb Collier, 18, and Matthew Markel, 19, both of Indiana, were cited with underage drinking around 11 p.m. May 16 in the 700 block of Locust Street, Indiana Borough police reported.

Collier also provided police with a false name and was also charged with giving false identification to law enforcement.

Markel was also charged with public drunkenness.

 

Criminal mischief

Someone damaged flowers planted in front of a home in the 500 block of Church Street between 2 and 9 a.m. Tuesday, Indiana Borough police reported.

BURRELL TOWNSHIP

Harassment

State police filed a citation on Monday against Garry Short, 57, of Blairsville, alleging that he hit a 39-year-old man from Josephine at 5 p.m. that date at 16 Republic Way. Short faces a summary count of harassment, court records show.

Troopers withheld the name of the person who raised the allegations against Short.

WEST WHEATFIELD TOWNSHIP

Harassment

Donald Frain, 86, of New Florence, told police a known man threatened him with physical violence outside his home on Cobblestone Lane around 2 p.m. Monday, state police in Indiana reported. The man was not named.

YOUNG TOWNSHIP, JEFFERSON COUNTY

Criminal mischief

Someone cut the window screen to a home at 569 Elderberry Hill Road between Saturday and Tuesday, state police in Punxsutawney reported.

Police said the person was unable to get into the home because the window was locked.

The home’s resident was identified only as a 44-year-old woman.

DERRY TOWNSHIP, WESTMORELAND COUNTY

Criminal mischief

Someone damaged Michael Petro’s mailbox and post at 179 Kingston Club Road between midnight and 8 a.m. Monday, state police in Greensburg reported.
