Vandalism

Indiana Borough police reported someone smashed the window of a purple Komatsu excavator that was parked at a construction site at South Sixth and School Streets overnight Wednesday or Thursday.

The damage was reported by an employee of Kukurin Contracting Inc., police said.

 

WHITE TOWNSHIP

Retail theft

A 21-year-old man took a tool worth $27.99 from Sears around 3:30 p.m. May 17, state police in Indiana reported. The man was not named.

 

Theft

State police in Indiana reported a man stole a Kenwood portable radio from inside Giant Eagle, 475 Ben Franklin Road, around 8:45 p.m. Wednesday.

 

Burglary

Someone broke into Jonathan Spann’s apartment through a rear window and stole an Xbox 360, games and $150 between 6:15 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, state police in Indiana reported.

Police did not report the apartment’s address.

GREEN TOWNSHIP

Burglary

Someone broke into Camp Living Waters, in Green Township, between Saturday and Tuesday, and damaged windows, a door and items belonging to Franklyn Paul Yarnal, 65, of Cherry Tree, state police in Indiana reported.

 

BUFFINGTON TOWNSHIP

PFA violation

State police in Indiana reported they are investigating a PFA violation that occurred between 4:30 and 5 p.m. Tuesday at a residence on Ridge Road.

Police said a known male suspect, who was not identified by police, contacted a third-party person and asked that person to relay information to a 29-year-old woman, of Homer City, with whom he was not allowed to communicate.

 

NORTH MAHONING TOWNSHIP

Theft

Someone took scrap metal and various truck parts from Gaston Lumber between April 20 and May 8, state police in Punxsutawney reported Thursday.

Police did not list the address where the theft occurred.

 

DERRY TOWNSHIP, WESTMORELAND COUNTY

Criminal mischief

Someone damaged the siding to William Landis’ home on Traction Avenue with eggs between May 17 and 19, state police in Greensburg reported.

 

Aggravated assault

State police in Greensburg reported Joshua David Jack, 27, of Ford City, was arrested and charged with three counts of aggravated assault, four counts of harassment, one of terroristic threats and one of recklessly endangering another person April 25 at Torrance State Hospital.

Police reported the charges today.

Police said Jack assaulted staff members, including Timothy James Vanguilder, 48, no hometown listed, while he was a resident at the facility. He was lodged in the Westmoreland County Jail on a $10,000 bail.

 

Theft from a vehicle

State police in Greensburg reported someone took change out of two vehicles belonging to an unnamed 47-year-old Derry man on May 21 or 22 at 321 Route 217.
