Scam reported

Helen Hovis, of Indiana, told state police that she was tricked by a telephone caller into wiring $1,800 to the Dominican Republic on Friday under the ruse that a family member needed help.

 

Cherryhill Township

Vandalism reports

Someone threw a beer bottle at a sport utility vehicle owned by Brian McCracken and broke the rear window between 11:30 p.m. Friday and 9:30 a.m. Saturday on Allen Bridge Road, state police reported.

The rear window of a vehicle owned by John Bakaysa was broken by a bottle late Friday or early Saturday while it was parked at his residence along Route 553 near Penn Run, according to troopers at Indiana.

Rayne Township

Burglary attempted

Someone tried to break into buildings owned by Northern Star Generation Services, of Ebensburg, at a coal refuse site along Ernest Haul Road between May 21 and 23, state police at Indiana reported today.

 

Rural Valley, Armstrong County

Mischief

State police reported someone used a paint-like substance to write on vehicles owned by Christine Stiveson and Barton Warren, both of Rural Valley, between 3 and 4 a.m. May 11 on the 700 block of Main Street and on Parkwood Drive.

Troopers at Kittanning gave no estimate of the damage.
