Borough police have charged Zachary Ross, 19, of Murrysville, with possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said they charged Ross after searching his apartment at 568 Philadelphia St., looking to serve an arrest warrant on a person known to stay at that address. That person, whom police did not identify, was not found, police said.
Someone broke into the home of John and LuAnne Baker, of Commodore, on Aug. 4 and stole a small safe, according to state police in Indiana. Police said the thief entered the home sometime between 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. by breaking in through a side door and used a dolly to cart the safe out the home.

SALEM TOWNSHIP, WESTMORELAND COUNTY
State police at the Kiski Valley station are looking for the man who swindled a Saltsburg woman out of $15 on Friday at Bundy’s Up In Smokehouse along Route 22. According to police, the man approached the woman, asking to borrow $15 for gasoline. The man promised to repay the woman within a half-hour, but never did, police said.
Police said the man, who is known to police, pulled the same scam on someone at Export Fuel Co. Inc. in July. Police said the man drives a burgundy 2002 Ford Explorer.
COWSHANNOCK TOWNSHIP, ARMSTRONG COUNTY
State police in Kittanning said they have charged Jeffrey Lynn Stitt, 57, of Rural Valley, and Zachery David Zahradnik, 23, of NuMine, with simple assault and harassment following a fight between the two men early this morning at the We Gotta Bar & Grill, 1448 State Route 1042. Following the fight, Stitt went into the tavern’s parking lot and slashed two tires on a vehicle belonging to Patricia Marie Ion, 29, of Dayton, police said. As a result, Stitt was additionally charged with criminal mischief, according to police.
