Green Township

Identity theft

Angela Bash, of Commodore, reported to state police that the Internal Revenue Service billed her for tax on income represented in a PayPal account under her Social Security number, but that she had never opened the account.

Troopers at Indiana reported the account was set up in 2012.

Plumville

Auto theft

Someone stole a car belonging to a Rural Valley man at 8:40 p.m. Tuesday while the car was parked at a gas pump Nelson’s Mini Mart, 109 Main St., and later was involved in a traffic crash, state police reported.

Troopers reported the suspect is a Creekside resident, but have not yet filed charges.

Porter Township, Jefferson County

Theft

Mary Gerlitzki, of Fairview Road, reported to state police that someone deposited a check in her bank account on Dec. 4 so she could transfer funds by Western Union, and later learned the check was fake.

A suspect is under investigation but has not yet been charged, according to troopers at Punxsutawney.
