Burrell Township

Shoplifting

State police reported a 14-year-old juvenile was caught trying to steal clothing valued at $151.02 from Walmart in Resort Plaza between 11:30 and noon Saturday.

The youth will be charged with retail theft, according to troopers at Indiana.

Theft

Someone driving a dark-colored pickup truck stole a brown miniature boxer dog from 603 Penn View Road between 5:30 and 6 a.m. Sunday, state police reported.

The dog has a patch of white under the neck and white-tipped paws, and answers to Sally, police said.

Derry Township, Westmoreland County

Burglary

Harry Beckerleg, of 248 Lee Valley Road, told state police that someone broke into his house between Thursday and Saturday and stole 20 Percocet pills.

Damage reported

Someone drove a vehicle on a fresh coat of asphalt on a driveway at the Carbide Metals Inc. plant along Cherry Street at 12:01 a.m. Friday and caused $800 damage to the paving material, state police at Greensburg reported.

Gun discovered

A firearm was found Wednesday in Torrance State Hospital, state police reported. Troopers at Greensburg are investigating the circumstances.

Loyalhanna Township, Westmoreland County

Gun violation

State police reported a 46-year-old Shelocta man is suspected of filing paperwork to obtain a rifle from Bee’s Gun store as a prize at a gun bash March 15 while being prohibited from buying a firearm.

Troopers at Kiski Valley reported the investigation continues and no charges have yet been filed.
