Littering

Someone left two empty soft drink beverage cans and a chewed piece of gum or taffy in a mailbox at Richard Good’s residence along Route 954 near Smicksburg between 5 p.m. Friday and 10:30 a.m. Saturday, state police reported.

Troopers at Punxsutawney called it an act of scattering rubbish.

Bolivar, Westmoreland County

Assault

State police charged James Timko, 41, of Bolivar, on Sunday with simple assault and harassment, accusing him of shoving his stepson, Scott Reffo, at 12:01 a.m. Saturday at 3013 Route 259.

Reffo suffered a broken leg, according to a report.

Timko was allowed to remain free on unsecured bond to await court action on the charges. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 15 in Youngwood District Court.

Derry Township, Westmoreland County

Theft

Someone cut a hole in the fence at True Value Hardware, 712 Industrial Blvd., and stole several buckets of driveway sealing material between 9:05 p.m. July 28 and 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, state police at Greensburg reported. Troopers gave no estimate of the loss.
