Center Township -- Credit card fraud :: State police at Indiana accused Melanie Renee Hillwig, 25, of Turtle Creek, of using credit cards issued to Richard Williams, 65, of Indiana, to make unauthorized money transfers via Western Union that resulted in a loss of $731.

Police said the transfers were made between Jan. 24 and 28. Hillwig was charged with access device fraud and theft.

Alcohol offenses

Indiana University of Pennsylvania police found Dennis Smith, 43, of Roosevelt, N.Y., stumbling and staggering along the 1100 block of Maple Street at 2:59 a.m. March 10. Smith was charged with public drunkenness.

IUP police were also called to Elkin Hall at 10:28 p.m. March 8. After a short investigation officers charged three students with underage drinking. They were identified as Marshall McKean, 18, of Mercer; Nicholas Magas, 19, of Damascus, Md.; and Brady Delaney, 19, of Pittsburgh.

Permit stolen

IUP police said a university parking permit was taken from a Jeep Wrangler parked in the Davis lot March 3 or 4.

Anyone with information on the missing permit is asked to contact campus police at (724) 357-2141.

Brush Valley Township

Access device theft

State police at Indiana said that someone used a bank card issued to Debra Bennett, of Homer City, to make purchases over the Internet between March 7 and 11.

Hempfield Township

Theft

Operators of Nick's Roofing, of Derry, told state police at Greensburg that someone stole an air compressor and roofing supplies between 5 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. Friday from 635 Fairview Drive.

Unity Township, Westmoreland County

Vandalism

Someone caused $400 of damage to the paint of a car owned by Kurt Johnson, of Derry, between 6 and 7 p.m. Wednesday, while the car was parked at Coffee Bean Caf´┐ę, state police at Greensburg have reported.

Glen Campbell

Burglary

State police at Punxsutawney reported someone broke through a door and stole copper wire and pipes between Feb. 23 and Thursday from a house owned by Kevin Conner, of Woodbridge, Va., at 129 Schrader Ave.
