Police looking for armed robbers

by The Indiana Gazette on December 24, 2013 10:59 AM

Two armed bandits robbed the EZ Mart Convenience Store, 80 S. Ben Franklin Road, at 9:50 p.m. Monday and escaped with about $250.

State police said the male robbers entered the store, told the teller to open the cash register, put her hands in the air and step back from the counter. They then instructed her to lie on the floor as one bandit walked around the counter and grabbed the cash and several packs of Marlboro cigarettes.

Police said the robbers ran out the front door and fled south toward Ben Franklin Road.

Police said one robber is a white male in his 20s, about 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighs 140 pounds and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, white gloves, dark jeans and black shoes and had a dark bandana over his face. He brandished a silver, small-caliber handgun and pointed it at the teller, police said.

Investigators described the other robber as a Hispanic male, possibly in his late 20s or early 30, about 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing 230 pounds. He was wearing a black baseball cap, black leather gloves, blue jeans, a gray button-up dress shirt and black boots and had a white bandana over his face.

Police Tuesday morning reviewed surveillance video from the store for more clues.

Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call the state police at (724) 357-1960.
