Police: Man tried to hire 2 hit men
YORK (AP) — A central Pennsylvania man accused of having tried to hire someone to commit one murder is now accused of trying to hire a second purported hit man to kill the first one.
Gregory Allen Hess, 46, of Seven Valleys, was charged in York County in April with solicitation of criminal homicide and criminal use of a communication facility.
Prosecutors allege that Hess paid a confidential informant $30,000 to kill a male acquaintance of his wife.
But authorities allege Wednesday that after he was arrested and taken to county prison, he tried to hire another inmate to kill the first would-be hit man.
Defense attorney Farley Holt challenged the credibility of the unnamed informant when he learned of the new charges, calling him a “career criminal.”
