EBENSBURG (AP) -- A handcuffed prisoner was knocked unconscious and hospitalized, and a county sheriff's deputy injured when the prisoner jumped from a stairwell in the Cambria County courthouse after a domestic abuse hearing.

Cambria County President Judge Timothy Creany said the incident happened Monday moments after he had ordered that Akeem Rhine, 19, of Johnstown, be returned to jail by deputies so Rhine could be released from custody.
