BLAIRSVILLE — Blairsville police Chief Michael Allman is offering a reward for information leading to the conviction of the vandals who damaged or stole a few dozen street signs over the weekend.

According to Allman, street signs at 33 intersections, including those on South Stewart Street, North Spring Street and Maple Avenue, were either taken or knocked off their poles.

Allman said he believes the vandals struck sometime Friday night or Saturday morning. Mayor Ron Evanko said they caused around $2,500 in damage.

Allman said he is offering the cash reward out of his own pocket. The amount hasn’t been determined yet, he said. He also said that several of the intersections happened to be within view of security cameras, and officers are reviewing the footage.
