Two troopers awarded medals
HARRISBURG (AP) — The Pennsylvania State Police are honoring two troopers for saving the life of another who was shot and critically wounded last year while serving a drug search warrant.
The department on Tuesday gave its 2014 Medal of Honor to Cpl. Joseph Alessandro and Trooper Dustin Sosak.
Trooper Bradley Wilson was shot twice Sept. 26, 2013, by an unseen assailant inside a Jefferson County home. While other troopers provided cover fire, Sosak and Alessandro moved Wilson to an ambulance.
Police say a sophisticated marijuana-growing operation and a methamphetamine laboratory were on the property.
Two others involved in the rescue received commendation medals.
