Woman charged in infant death
EASTON (AP) — A Pennsylvania woman is being held without bail after authorities said she gave birth to a baby then left him to die in a sports bar toilet.
Amanda Catherine Hein, 26, was arraigned Monday on a single count of criminal homicide in the death of the baby discovered in the pub’s bathroom last week.
Court documents said the Allentown woman admitted giving birth to the baby boy, wrapping him in a plastic bag from a garbage container and placing him in the toilet tank. Authorities said she had not told anyone she was pregnant.
An autopsy found the baby was viable and born alive. A cleaning crew found its body the next day inside Starters Pub in Bethlehem, about 30 miles north of Philadelphia.
Court records do not list an attorney for Hein.
