Katie Hagens, left, and Liliana Semone, sixth-graders at Indiana Area Junior High School, put on a skit Friday during a National History Day event that was sponsored by Indiana University of Pennsylvania's history department.

In their skit, called "Turning Point in History: First Time Man Walks on the Moon," they were having a sleepover in 1969 and watching the moon landing on television.

Approximately 200 students from Indiana and other schools displayed their historical research in papers, documentaries, performances and websites. Judging was done by faculty and students in IUP's history department and others.

Winners of the daylong competition will compete at the state level in Mechanicsburg.
