The Laurel Highlander bagpipers will again furnish the appropriate music for Indiana’s 22nd annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade, stepping off at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 16.

The day’s festivities will begin at 10 a.m. with a leprechaun look-alike contest for wee laddies and lassies. Participants will gather at Spaghetti Benders, 563 Philadelphia St., for judging and then they will march in the parade.

Sgt. Frank Kovalcik, of the Indiana Borough Police Department, said the parade will form along the 400 block of Philadelphia Street and move west on Philadelphia Street to Ninth Street near the Indiana County Court House.

Some parking restrictions will be in place near the parade route and Philadelphia Street from Fourth to Ninth street will be closed, as will the first half-blocks of Fifth, Sixth and Seventh streets, north and south of Philadelphia Street, before and during the parade.

The parade is sponsored by Downtown Indiana Inc. and The Coney.
