Sidney Crosby and Joe Vitale scored for Pittsburgh, Tyler Seguin for Boston. Tomas Vokoun stopped 31 of 32 shots for the Pens.
Notes — The Penguins can clinch the top seed in the Eastern Conference with a victory. Pittsburgh has a seven-point lead on Montreal, 66-59, for the top spot. Pascal Dupuis overtook teammate Chris Kunitz for the league lead in plus-minus (plus-30). Goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury (22-6-0, .917 save percentage) is tied for the league lead in wins. Backup Tomas Vokoun is 11-4-0 with a .912 save percentage. … Winger Brenden Morrow has eight points in his last five games.
About the Bruins — Boston held its first major sporting event since Monday’s Boston Marathon bombings, as the Bruins played host to Buffalo on Wednesday. Boston lost, 3-2, in a shootout. Daniel Paille and Chris Kelly scored for the Bruins. Goalie Anton Khudobin stopped 30 of 32 shots in regulation and overtime. ... The Bruins were scheduled to play host to Ottawa on Monday, but the game was postponed. ... The Bruins have lost three in a row, though they are one of three Eastern Conference teams to have a playoff spot sewn up. ... Former Penguin Jaromir Jagr has seven points (one goal, six assists) in seven games since the Bruins acquired him from Dallas. ... Winger Brad Marchand leads the team in goals (16) and points (33), and center David Krejci leads in assists (22). Goalie Tuukka Rask (17-8-4) is third in the league in save percentage (.929) and fifth in goals-against average (1.99).
