SPRING CHURCH — Apollo-Ridge crushed winless Summit Academy in a WPIAL Section 3-AA baseball doubleheader, beating the Knights, 12-0 and 14-2 on Friday.

Mitch Johnston clubbed a two-run home run in the first inning of the five-inning, mercy-rule-shortened Game 1, as the Vikings plated six runs and set the tone for the day. Sam Held added a solo homer in the third inning, and Johnston and Dom DiBernardo each had a double.

Mike Percic yielded just one hit in five innings, striking out five and walking none for the win.

Held, Wingard and Tanner Baylor each ripped doubles in Game 2, which was shortened to six innings. Zack Weinel drove in three runs.

Johnston picked up the win, with no strikeouts, a walk and one hit allowed in three innings.

Apollo-Ridge (6-7, 3-3 section) plays host to Valley on Monday.
