CDC: Pennsylvania suicide rate increases

The number of Pennsylvania residents who committed suicide increased between 1999 and 2010, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The number of suicides and age-adjusted rate per 100,000 population were:

— 1999: 662 suicides (14.0 per 100,000)

— 2010: 905 suicides (17.4 per 100,000)

That’s a 23.8 percent increase.
