IUP women’s tennis players Katie Eaton and Tanya Timko were recognized as the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Senior Player of the Year and Player to Watch, respectively, by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Thursday.
Eaton is tied for first on the team this season with 23 singles victories, going 14-4 in dual matches. She is 8-6 in tournament play. In doubles play she has a 23-14 record, including a 9-3 record in tournament play.
An integral part of IUP’s four consecutive NCAA tournament appearances, she is the program’s all-time career leader with 82 singles victories.
The Player to Watch award goes to a top sophomore or junior in each region. Timko’s 50 combined wins leads the team and is tied for first all-time in single-season school history. A sophomore, she has racked up a 23-9 record in singles and 27-10 record in doubles play.
IUP plays in the Division II championships next week in Surprise, Ariz.
