CINCINNATI — Punxsutawney native Devin Mesoraco hit the game-tying home run, and Shin-Soo Choo followed with the game-winner in the bottom of the ninth inning Tuesday night, rallying the Cincinnati Reds to a 5-4 victory over the Atlanta Braves.

Mesoraco connected for his first career pinch-hit homer off Atlanta closer Craig Kimbrel (0-1), who blew a save for the second time in his last three appearances. Kimbrel went to a full count on Mesoraco before the catcher homered into the first row in center.

Atlanta center fielder B.J. Upton drifted toward the wall and jumped, the ball narrowly clearing his glove and landing in the first row.

“That was incredible,” Mesoraco said of his first career pinch-hit homer. “I watched (Upton). Once he looked up, it was a pretty good feeling.”

Four pitches later, Choo hit his second homer of the game.

Jonathan Broxton (1-1) retired three batters in the ninth inning to finish Cincinnati’s fourth win in five games.
