William Winters, of Airport Road, White Township, has announced his candidacy for White Township tax collector.
A lifelong resident of Indiana County, he has resided in White Township since 1980. William believes that the variety of work experiences he has gained throughout his life provide him with the knowledge, work ethic and the ability to problem solve that will allow him to be a creditable tax collector for White Township.
After graduating for Alderson Broaddus College, Winters returned to work with his father’s excavating company, Ray I. Winters and Sons Inc., where he served as the treasurer of the company in addition to managing daily work operations.
In 1995, Winters was instrumental in bringing to the area Third Wave, Indiana County’s first Internet service provider.
For the past 17 years, Winters has been president of Winterwind Farm Inc., a company involved in interstate and secondary roadway mowing for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
Looking forward, he plans to change career paths and is excited about the opportunity to serve White Township in the capacity of tax collector.
In his free time, Winters can be seen running the roads and trails of Indiana County and has competed in many marathons across the country, including Boston and Chicago.
He and his wife, Ginny, reside on a White Township farm they share with the Welsh terriers and all of the wildlife that surrounds them.
