Woman struck in crosswalk

A woman was taken to Indiana Regional Medical Center after she was hit by a vehicle while in the crosswalk in the Walmart parking lot around 9:30 a.m. Thursday, state police in Indiana reported.

Trooper Richard Englert said a vehicle driven by Eileen Fennell, 74, of Homer City, backed out of a parking space, pulled to a stop sign and turned left into Bette Pitzerell, 76, of Shelocta. Pitzerell was transported to Indiana Regional Medical Center by Citizens’ Ambulance Service, according to police.

Her condition was not known this morning. Englert said that no charges will be filed.
