Firefighters from three departments battled a rubbish fire that spread to a vehicle just before 3 p.m. Monday along Spruce Grove Road, Cherryhill Township.

John Rainey, assistant chief of the Cherryhill Township Volunteer Fire Company, said the rubbish fire on the property of Randy Coy ignited the car and threatened to spread to a nearby trailer used for storage. There was nothing in the trailer that was hazardous or that caught on fire, Rainey said.

Firefighters from Pine Township and Clymer also were called to help extinguish the flames.
