Veterans salute planned
June 12, 2013 10:50 AM

The Blairsville Elks is hosting its first “Elks Salute to Our Veterans” immediately following the Flag Day service on Friday. The event is being sponsored in cooperation with other local organizations that honor, support and provide services for local veterans, including the Blairsville Military Service Group, the Blairsville VFW and the Blairsville American Legion.

The Elks’ Flag Day ceremony begins at 6 p.m. at the Blairsville Cemetery. The public is welcome.

A free barbecue dinner will be served to veterans and their families at 7:30 p.m. at the Blairsville Elks Club, 60 E. Campbell St.

The Elks encourages vets to meet other local veterans and enjoy a free burger or hot dog in a friendly atmosphere.

There is no cost to attend, but reservations are requested so there is enough food. Email elksalute@gmail.com or phone (724) 459-7777.

Let us know if you need a ride.

In case of rain, the Flag Day ceremony will also be held at the Elks Club.
