WEST LEBANON — Mike Percic hit a home run in the bottom of the seventh inning, but it was too little, too late for Young Township in a 4-2 loss to Punxsutawney Legion in an Indiana County Senior Legion baseball game Saturday.

Mike Klingensmith allowed seven hits, but struck out 11 and walked none to pick up the win for Punxsutawney.

“Even though we lost, we did an excellent job today,” Young Township coach Barry Thomas said. “He was a really good pitcher, and we were in it the whole game, and that’s tough. It was a good game, but it just didn’t go our way.”

Dane Baker and Dakota Byers had two hits each for Punxsutawney.

Adam Deruelle led Young Township offensively with two hits. Percic took the loss for the Renegades, who committed four errors.

“Four errors,” Thomas said. “You can’t have that in this league and expect to win. We really need to clean up our defense.”

Young Township (3-3) will play host to Kovacik Insurance on Monday, and Punxsutawney is set to welcome Marion Center on Tuesday.

KOVACIK INSURANCE 12, HOMER CITY POST 493 2: Undefeated Kovacik Insurance racked up nine runs in the first three innings en route to a win over winless Post 493 in a game that was shortened to five innings due to the mercy rule.

Anthony Faulk and Adam Magalich had two hits apiecefor Kovacik (5-0), which had five hits through the first two innings. Scott Thompson and Andrew Iezzi each doubled.

Homer City (0-6) will play Indiana Legion at home on Tuesday.
