KATHY VARGO CAUTHEN: Kudos to 'Mr. Habitat'
July 07, 2013 3:00 AM

Bob Vargo, a longtime community member, retired recently as executive director of Indiana’s Habitat for Humanity. As his daughter, I was privileged on occasion to volunteer. I am so impressed that Indiana has such great people working tirelessly for the cause.

At a Jackie Kallal triathlon, I met family and friends who gave time and talent to honor her memory.

I met wonderful staff members at ICCAP who worked behind the scenes. I met business partners who contributed money and who spoke of my dad with great pride and camaraderie as “Mr. Habitat.”

My own mother took calls at home from families in need, many times late into the evening.

I encourage your community to continue this good work, even in tough economic times.

Here’s to you, Mr. Habitat, and to the wonderful people who embrace the spirit of helping in Indiana County.

Kathy Vargo Cauthen
