SENIOR LEGION: Renegades roll behind Percic's gem
July 03, 2013 10:40 AM

Young Township pitcher Mike Percic tossed a gem and the Renegades piled up nine hits to roll over Marion Center for a 9-0 win in an Indiana County Senior Legion baseball game Tuesday at Bertolino Field.

Percic tossed a three-hit shutout. He struck out 10 and walked two.

“He was definitely the story of the game,” Young Township manager Barry Thomas said. “He had good command of the plate the whole time and he only threw about 80 to 85 pitches. He got in a little trouble and walked two batters in the sixth, but he did an excellent job of working his way out of that. It was just an exceptional effort on Mike’s part.”

Ben Carnahan paced Young Township by going 3-for-4 with three runs scored. Delbert Brown stroked two singles and drove in a pair of runs, and Adam Deruelle cracked a two-run double.

Losing pitcher Matt Popovich struck out eight and walked two in five innings.

Young Township (11-5) travels to Punxsutawney today.

Marion Center (10-7) plays host to Indiana Legion on Saturday.
