First-place I-Medical bolted to a four-run first-inning lead and never let up, banging out 12 hits to thump winless Marion Center, 10-4, in an Indiana County Youth Legion baseball game Wednesday in Marion Center.
Dakota Byers led I-Medical by going 3-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI. Brandon Douthit singled three times and drove in a pair of runs.
Sammy Gigliotti struck out three, walked three and allowed three hits in four innings to earn the win.
Marion Center’s Erik Hicks struck out three and walked four over seven innings in a complete-game losing effort.
The game was the last chance for Marion Center to break into the win column on the season, and although they couldn’t, brighter days lie ahead, said manager Don Stitt.
“This was a tough year for us,” he said. “But we’ve got a lot of young kids and if they all come back to play I think we’ll be just fine.”
Marion Center (0-20) concluded its season. I-Medical (16-2) awaits its playoff seed.
